How to Toast Hemp Seeds

There’s so much that you can do with hemp seeds. You can toast them or eat them raw. Most people are used to eating them raw. However, toasting hemp seeds is something that a lot of people don’t know about yet. Toasting allows you to enjoy a crunchy and toasty flavor. Toasting hemp seeds adds value to your diet because the seeds contain phosphorus, calcium, fiber, protein essential fatty acids and important vitamins like vitamin E.

If you have any store around your neighborhood, you can consult them about getting you hemp seeds to toast. Alternatively, if you’re a hemp farmer, the produce is right outside your doorstep. Toasting hemp seeds is very easy and convenient. You can do this either in an oven or a stove.

The following steps should guide you on how to toast hemp seeds:

Oven Toasting

Instructions:

  • You will need a baking sheet for this.
  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
  • Make sure the seeds are coated with cooking oil.
  • Sprinkle salt on the hemp seeds, then set them out on a baking sheet for a few minutes.
  • Bake the hemp seeds until the color turns brown and then set them aside to cool down.
  • The baking process should take around 15-20 minutes.

Stove Toasting

Instructions:

  • You will need your preferred cooking oil and a heavy skillet for this.
  • Set your stove to medium heat and place a heavy skillet on the burner.
  • Spread your hemp seeds on the skillet, making sure they are evenly spread out.
  • Let the seeds cook until they start changing to a dark color. (It takes roughly 3 minutes for the seeds to turn dark.)
  • Add half a teaspoon of cooking oil while stirring to make sure that all the seeds get oil coating.
  • You can also sprinkle salt on the seeds at this point to get your desired taste.
  • Keep cooking the seeds for around 4 minutes, stirring while you’re at it.
  • When ready, place the seeds on a tray or plate so they can cool off properly.

Toasted hemp seeds are tastier when they are eaten just the way they are. However, this doesn’t mean you cannot experiment with other foods. You can add them to your recipes for some of your favorite foods. A lot of people use toasted hemp seeds sprinkled on stir-fry dishes, pasta, and salads. You can also have them on a sandwich. Toasted hemp seeds bring a crunchy experience to your wraps and sandwiches.
